Odds tell you two things: how much a bet pays, and how likely the bookmaker thinks an outcome is. The format changes how those numbers are written, not what they're worth. Once you can convert between formats, you can compare prices with confidence.
Decimal odds
Decimal odds show your total return for every RM1 staked, including the stake. A RM10 bet at 1.85 returns RM18.50 if it wins: RM8.50 profit plus your RM10 back.
Decimal odds also give the implied probability. Divide 1 by the odds: 1 รท 1.85 = 54.1%.
Hong Kong odds
Hong Kong (HK) odds show only the profit per RM1 staked. They're decimal odds minus 1, so 1.85 decimal is 0.85 HK. A RM10 bet at 0.85 HK wins RM8.50 profit, and your stake comes back too.
Malay odds
Malay odds always sit between โ1.00 and +1.00, and the sign changes how you read them.
- Positive Malay odds work like Hong Kong odds: the profit per RM1 staked. At 0.85, a RM10 bet wins RM8.50.
- Negative Malay odds show how much you risk to win RM1. At โ0.80, you risk RM0.80 to win RM1, so risking RM8 wins RM10.
Negative Malay odds always describe a price longer than evens (above 2.00 in decimal). Before you confirm, the bet slip shows the exact amount at risk and the potential return. Check it every time.
Converting between formats
- Decimal to HK: subtract 1.
- HK to decimal: add 1.
- HK of 1.00 or less to Malay: the number stays the same.
- HK above 1.00 to Malay: โ1 รท HK. For example, 1.25 HK becomes โ1 รท 1.25 = โ0.80.
- Negative Malay to HK: โ1 รท Malay. For example, โ0.80 becomes 1.25 HK, or 2.25 decimal.

Implied probability and the bookmaker's margin
Add up the implied probabilities of every outcome in a market and the total comes to more than 100%. The excess is the bookmaker's margin. If both sides of a match are priced at 1.91, each implies 52.4%, for a total of 104.7%: a margin of about 4.7%.
A lower total means better value for the bettor, so comparing totals is a quick way to see which markets carry the biggest margin.
Asian handicap in a minute
Asian handicap gives one side a head start so the draw disappears. On a โ0.5 line, your team must win. A 0 line, also called draw no bet, refunds your stake if the match is drawn. Quarter lines split your stake in two: a โ0.25 bet is half on 0 and half on โ0.5, so a draw refunds half your stake and loses the other half.

โThe format changes how a price is written, not what it's worth.โ
Odds reflect the bookmaker's view plus its margin, and no format, system or tipster removes that margin. Bet only what you've set aside for entertainment. See setting limits that work.
